After all that running, it was time for a break, so the weekend after Comrades, we took ourselves north to Mkuze Falls, just out of Pongola and on the Swaziland border.
At the time, it felt like game sightings were few and far between, but looking back at the photos, I now realise we actually saw heaps of wildlife, and some beautiful landscape to boot. Here are a few of the animals we saw:
Once the sun came up, things started to warm up nicely, and it was a glorious spot to look out over the valley for breakfast.
Our ranger, took us out for a walk down to the falls, which were barely a trickle at this time of year

…on our way home from Mkuze, we made a detour through Hluhluwe and came across a few gorgeous nyala, some lovely fat rhino, and some equally surprising elephant at the Nyalazi Gate. What fun!
